Southern Living Jan 2009- The Slip Cover article has arrived!

The long awaited issue of Southern Living has come out with the stories of my slipcovers in my home, Mermaid Manor. Charles Walton, the senior photographer and Julia Hamilton, Senior writer ( who also just retired after 20 years with the magazine- Congrats Julia!) did a great job. I've had friends from all over the South call me in shock to see my home (And Max and I!) in the magazine! One friend called me to say she was sitting in her doctors office and was reading the article and said to her daughter- this looks just like my friend Diane's home. Of course her daughter said can't be... but then Cristy says- OMG- it is Diane!!! The whole doctor's office looked up and then read the article together!

Another one of my dear friends told me how in her town of Columbus, GA , to have your home in Southern Livving is about a big a deal as you can be!

I'm very honored with the story, thrilled that my home looks so beautiful ( and still does on most days!) and even better, when you go to http://www.southernliving.com/ under sources, you can see http://www.mermaidcottages.com/ The above picture was taken by Charles and included in the article. The main picture of the article shows my living room and if you look carefully in the book shelves, you'll see the books of our favorite southern writer, Mary Kay Andrews !

Kendrah White is the slipcover genius and you can go to her blog to learn more about her amazing work.... Thank you Kendrah for including me in this great adventure! http://www.savvysewing.blogspot.com/ And of course thank you to Jane Coslick for being the creative genius behind taking my vision and all my "stuff" and turning this into a dream nest.

We're posting the entire article on mermaidcottages.com under the Media Section of the website so you can read at your leisure.

Keep your fingers crossed, I've heard from my Southern Living friends that they'll be using other pictures from the photo shoot in future magazines....

I can't wait to get my copy! I love your blog, and live vicariously through you. My dream is to one day own a small beach cottage...but my money tree has to grow first!!

Diane--Libby said her son saw the article--but was mostly impressed that Max got to make a cameo appearance in SL.

Diane, Remember that the camera adds 10 pounds! You are much slimmer in person than you are in the SL photo! Of course, I'm a BIG girl and that's OK, too. LOL We are so proud of you and the positive attention you and your associates have brought to our beloved Tybee!
