We can finally stop saying "the other side of the mess hall". The contest held on The Lettered Cottage was incredibly successful with over 2000 people voting on the name. You could vote and then actually watch the tally happen with each vote. Amazing!
We also named the various bedrooms- The Lettered Love is the Master Bedroom, Sand and Sea is the bedroom with the two twin beds and the bright and sunny yellow bedroom is called Lemonade Mermaid.
Photo shoot will happen on Friday, Open House on Sunday afternoon ( this weekend) and we'll be hopefully welcoming guests next week!!!
Pictures are coming soon....

I actually had so many great names to chose from that I ended up deciding to name all the bedrooms as well. This picture is the "yellow bedroom and these are some of the very fun things Layla and Kevin are working with to create a truly magical space.
You only have until Monday June 21st to vote, so don't be left out! www.theletteredcottage.net
Who knew submitting names could be so much fun! You can even see the tally of where the various names are in the contest. Love this!

Tybee Island, the busiest place on the face of the earth!
I AM SO BUSY!!!!!! The phones are ringing like crazy, the emails are flying thru cyberspace and landing on my lap top and black berry, the guests are arriving and departing faster then I can remember- SUMMER IS HERE!
On top of the busiest summer season ever, Layla and Kevin are working like crazy on the Mess Hall. Creating pure magic. Truly magic! If you haven't been to their website, you have to visit daily. And on top of THAT- we are doing a photo shoot at a couple of our cottages this Friday and Saturday for a coffee top table being published in Australia.
All this is a round about way of saying I'm keeping up with Twitters and Twitter Pictures on a regular basis ( very easy to tweet and take a quick picture) as well as our Mermaid Cottages Facebook page. So if you're not seeing alot of blogging, please check out the other two quick snippets of our Tybee Island lives!

Our "name the cottage" contest is going crazy!!
Don't forget- go to The Lettered Cottage to suggest the name for the other side of the Mess Hall . We have over 400 names that people have suggested! We want to be sure to include your name. Layla and Kevin have already mapped out exactly how they're going to decorate and design the space. Very exciting!!!

Our Sponsored Guide Dogs Puppies come to visit.
Danny had absolutely no interest in the puppies. He really wisted they go home and leave his human alone!
Boomer who's now 14 weeks old and cute as can be!
Berkeley and Boomer playing in the front yard.
We'll keep everyone updated on when Berkeley goes to school and how he's doing. In the meantime, Boomer is just going to win every one's hearts wherever he goes.
And don't forget- Beach Bum Biscuits proceeds all goes towards helping sponsoring our pups!

The Lettered Cottage comes to Tybee Island
I believe many of you know the amazing work of Layla and Kevin Palmer of The Lettered Cottage. Layla is one of the top bloggers in the world with thousands of people following not only their daily adventures, but their work as they restored their own cottage in Alabama.
They have arrived in Tybee. They are going to work on the bigger side of the Mess Hall ( which we've just kicked off a contest to name thru Layla's website) and take all my junkin' treasures, local art and wonderful found items ( from the Tybee mall on occasion) and create a brand new vacation rental. Not just a vacation rental, but one they will decorate completely in less then 10 days. Even more fun, they will be recording this entire adventure with video's, pictures and details on their blog. They are heading over to the home later this AM and the adventure will officially begin! Be sure you take a few minutes each day and visit their website to watch all the fun!
Kevin and Layla!

The bounty from my Tybee Community Garden!
I can't believe what's happening in my little 8x4 plot at the Tybee Community Garden. I guess all that sifting and working the soil and adding the organic chicken manure and cow manure from grass fed happy cows is really working My garden has EXPLODED with "crops"!!!!! These are flowers I actually grew from seed!!!
My squash has grown and I harvested 10 today! I clipped a huge pile of basil from my plants. I even was able to cut flowers that I'd planted to help attract lady bugs to keep the bugs away. I am so impressed with myself- more then I ever thought I would be!
Dinner is going to be very , very good tonight. Recipes to follow...
